The dream of the Human Health Foundation Onlus comes true

The Institute of Biosciences for Human Health of the Human Health Foundation Onlus of Spoleto (HHF), Foundation for Human Health, based in Spoleto and Terni, opened in Terni, in the Maratta location (via Bartocci 9 / B) on June 7.
Some years ago, two professionals coming from completely different areas of work, met and discussed at length, and afterwards created, a completely innovative project in the Italian scientific scenario, the HHF Onlus.
We are talking about the President of the Banca Popolare di Spoleto Giovannino Antoninini and Professor Antonio Giordano, founder and director of the Sbarro Institute for genetic and molecular research in Philadelphia, and well known Professor in the scientific-disciplinary field of pathologic anatomy of the University of Siena, Department of Human Pathology and Oncology.
It was June 2006 when the foundations of this non-profit organization for research were laid, and since then several works have already been published with great international attention (on FASEB recently) in the scientific community.
The President of the Scientific Committee of the HHF Antonio Giordano said: "The attempt is to fill the apparent gap between the structures of Healthcare and Research of the North with the ones of the Center-South. In practical terms this will translate into new working opportunities for young researchers, including the so-called brain drain, in a reality that, although independent, is also, able to establish fruitful collaborations with several academic realities in Italy, such as “ La Sapienza” and the “Universita’ Cattolica” in Rome, or the “Seconda Universita’ degli Studi” in Naples . I, once again, thank President Antonini for believing from day one in this project of which we already begin to appreciate its first results”. The Institute of Biosciences of Human Health, will study breast, brain and lung cancers and develop basic research up to the testing of drugs for cancer treatment. Additional research will address to the discovery of muscle regeneration mechanisms.

Together with the President Giovannino Antonini and Prof. Antonio Giordano, the Chairman of the Scientific Board Leopoldo Di Girolamo, Mayor of Terni, Bishop Vincenzo Paglia, Bishop of the Diocese of Terni, Narni, Amelia, Catiuscia Marini, President of the Umbria Region, Giuseppe Pizza, State Undersecretary of Education, University and Scientific Research, and Ignazio Marino, President of Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the effectiveness and efficiency of the NHS, will intervene as speakers.
